THE NEW HANDICAP SYSTEM - EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW - 4th June 2018

3rd September 2018 is the day that your handicap system and calculation will change.

To start with, there will be no reference to the existing tee structures - Pro's, Mens, Seniors and Ladies. There will only be colours: RED, BLUE, WHITE and YELLOW. Each set of tees has their own Slop Indexes and Course Rating and you will be free to play off any tee you wish. This means that there will be no deductions for playing forward tees (applies mainly to the men) and we can all play in the same competition together as the new system should even out the playing field.

Handicaps as we know them today will disappear as the new system will work off a Handicap Index. Each player will continue to enter their every score, and the handicap system will calculate the player's handicap (for that day) based on the course and the tee the player selects to play.

So when you play you will go to the Proshop as normal, register, swipe your card and enter the tee that you choose to play off that day. The system will then automatically give you your Course Handicap, which is what you play from that day. There will also be conversion charts on the board to help you make the strategic decision as to which tee you will want to play from.

This all seems very complicated but we will make sure everyone understands before the time comes.

Remember the following : " You don't have to know how a microwave works, you just put your food in and it works"........ likewise you don't actually have to know how this is calculated as your handicap will be given to you when you book in.

INTERCLUB @ LANGEBAAN GOLF ESTATE - 4th - 6th May 2018

The Interclub Championships (Foursomes Format) was hosted by Boland Ladies Golf in Langebaan this year. Unfortunately no prizes for our ladies but a lot of fun was had during the competition.

Hermanus GC hosted the Boland Ladies Golf Silver Bronze and Copper Cup on Sunday 8th April 2018.

Congratulations to Cheryl Richardson and Zenith Meiring who were winners on the day.

Cheryl won the Senior Championship and 3rd Net in the Silver Division

Zenith won 2nd Net in the Bronze Division
