Every year the Ladies Section buy Xmas presents for underprivileged children - this year Glenda von Benecke and Alison Buckmaster arranged the initiative.... Many thanks Ladies
A few words from Alison:
The 15 children fostered in Hermanus are predominantly white whereas the 37 in Stanford are all Cape coloured. The children have been removed from their parents under the strict guidance of the Children's Act for reasons of abuse, neglect or abandonment and put in to foster care. The ideal outcome is for these children to return to their families but this, sadly, rarely happens. They are, however, often placed in the care of their extended family. The Christmas presents we give are very gladly received. Knowing that someone cares is so very important to these children.
